Portland man killed in motorcycle accident

Riding a motorcycle on the road provides a unique form of freedom in getting from one place to another. However, this freedom comes with risks that differ from cars and trucks. For example, statistics show that motorcyclists are 5 times more likely to be injured than a person in a car. Motorcyclists who have been injured in an accident and their loved ones should be aware of how they may receive fair compensation for the financial challenges resulting from their injuries. In Portland, the loved ones of a motorcyclist may be considering how to obtain compensation after a motorcycle accident.

According to reports, a 44-year-old man was killed in a Christmas Eve motorcycle accident in Portland. Police say that the motorcyclist collided with a vehicle driven by a teenager. Police have not released information on the cause of the crash. The teenager driving the vehicle has not been charged.

In some motorcycle accident cases, those injured or their loved ones may file a legal claim against the person at fault for the accident. Motorcycle accident claims are generally based on the legal theory of negligence. In a negligence claim, the injured or their loved ones, the plaintiffs of the claim, must prove that the defendant had a duty of care to the plaintiff and failed to fulfill that duty. The plaintiff must also prove that the defendant caused an accident or injury to the plaintiff and that the defendant's failure to fulfill a duty resulted in the plaintiff's injuries. If the plaintiff's claim is successful, the plaintiff may be awarded damages for medical bills, loss of income and pain and suffering that resulted from the motorcycle accident.

When a loved one has been injured in a motorcycle accident, it may be challenging for family members to handle the unexpected financial bills. However, a motorcycle accident claim may provide compensation and closure for family members.
