Oregon man facing armed robbery charges

Any criminal charge has serious repercussions, if the offense is a federal crime, such as armed robbery. Although robbery usually results in a state-level charge, certain types of robberies fall under federal jurisdiction. Either way, an individual linked to an armed robbery charge is in serious legal trouble.

One Oregon man's serious troubles began after authorities, including Federal Bureau of Investigation agents, accused him of robbery. According to the report, the 28-year-old man was arrested for allegedly robbing an armored truck courier nearly three months ago, near the business complex south of Portland, Oregon. The accused was indicted on 14 criminal charges in connection with the robbery allegations. The charges stemmed from two robbery incidents in March and other criminal activities. Several law enforcement agencies, including the Oregon Department of Justice, Oregon State Police Crime Laboratory and the FBI, worked together to investigate, and bring all the charges.

The investigators claimed that the suspect was also responsible for a second robbery incident, where he allegedly confronted a different armored truck and was shot during that incident. After receiving treatment for injuries at a local hospital, the alleged robber was detained in the county jail. He was later transferred to a correctional facility with bail set at more than $300,000.

Excessive fines, jail time and ruined reputation are among the penalties of a robbery charge. An individual may face these punishments upon conviction. While being charged with a crime is challenging, being charged is different from being convicted. Substantial evidence is required to confirm the participation of an individual in a crime. Lack of evidence is just one of the many defenses an experienced Portland legal professional can utilize to defend the accused.
