Brothers plead not guilty to possession of child pornography

Child pornography in any form is illegal in Oregon. A person who is accused of being in possession of child pornography can face serious consequences if convicted. Currently, twin brothers from Eugene are facing charges of possessing child pornography, which authorities claim they discovered on the brothers' computers.

The 42-year-old men are prominent in the local high school and youth sports scene. They were charged with encouraging sex abuse of minors. Both men were charged with 20 counts. Last March, police executed a search warrant of the residence that the brothers shared and allegedly found pornographic images of children on their computers. One of the men, who worked as a middle school teacher and was the president of a baseball league, resigned the same day that the search took place. His twin brother was fired by the school after he supposedly did not respond to the school's efforts to communicate about the allegations. Both men were indicted last April. At the time, the brothers were in Colorado. They were arrested the following month and brought back to Oregon, where they pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The brothers' case is a clear example of how internet crime charges involving child pornography can have serious consequences in a person's life. A person's reputation can be seriously damaged. Allegations can also strain relationships with family and friends. Additionally, a person's professional life can take a downturn if accusations cause a person to lose employment or future opportunities.

An Oregon resident facing child pornography accusations needs to fight the charges aggressively to prevent dire consequences. Working with an experienced criminal defense lawyer can increase the chances of dismissal of the charges or acquittal.
