Husband and wife each facing felony armed robbery charge

As in Oregon, the impact of a criminal conviction in any state can be devastating. A husband and wife in another state are each facing an aggravated armed robbery charge. The incident reportedly occurred late in June, and they both appeared in court recently.

Court documents allege that the masked husband entered a pharmacy and demanded prescription drugs at gunpoint. He allegedly threatened about five people with the weapon. He came away with a substantial amount of medication -- primarily Oxycodone. Staff members described the car in which they saw him flee, and they also identified his wife as the get-away driver. It did not take long for police to locate the vehicle, and the couple was taken into custody.

The husband allegedly claimed that a third person was the masked man who had fled the scene moments before the police arrested them. However, his wife told police that she had just collected a prescription, and she did not mention a third person. Police investigators later found the medicine that was stolen during the armed robbery along with the handgun that was allegedly used.

The state charged each spouse with multiple felony charges including aggravated assault and robbery and obstruction of justice. However, it is apparently anticipated that the state's case against the husband will be dropped because he is expected to be charged by the federal court. The federal charges will include a felony armed robbery charge along with a felony firearm possession charge and brandishing it during a robbery. The most appropriate step to take by any Oregon resident who faces federal charges is to retain the services of an experienced criminal defense attorney who is skilled in defending cases in which weapons were involved in the commission of crimes.
